2008 Summer Olympics Part 4 - China s Human Rights

To believe that the Olympics in todays world is a mere sporting event is naive. Beijing was awarded the Olympics as a political gesture allowing them to prove themselves. Now it is up to China to prove to the world they are up to the task of living up to international human rights standards. Everyone MUST be so bold to declare ANYTHING less will negatively impact any recognition China hopes to achieve from these 2008 Olympic games. Everyone must be held to the same international human rights standard, including the United States."

Grayjing = Smoggy Beijing

Grayjing is the nickname given to Beijing for it’s serious air pollution problems. Most of us have heard about by now the unusually smoggy conditions polluting Beijing’s (population 11 million), air - but seeing the conditions makes you wonder if the Chinese are going to be able to pull off their so called "blue sky days" during the 2008 Summer Olympics scheduled to start August 8th. Government claims have previously stated that the number of "blue sky days", when smog levels are lower than normal -less than 100 on a scale of 500 API (Air Pollution Index), has increased to around 240 days annually.

The 2008 Summer Olympics emblem is known as "Dancing Beijing" The 2008 Games of the XXIX Olympiad, August 8th - 24th, are the 19th version of the summer games. 205 countries of the total 221 around the world are participating in these Olympics. The circle and square symbolize antagonism in China between heaven and the earth.
